Sunday 4th May
Niamh was too tired for a breastfeed today which was really frustrating. Poor little darling was so zonked I couldnt wake her. She has been having some desats while bottle feeding so her oxygen has been put up slightly to 0.02. Hopefully that will help her until she gets a bit bigger and gets the hang of sucking and breathing at the same time. It was horrible leaving her again today, but what else can we do? I'm going in tomorrow morning for another attempt at feeding her.

Hang in there!! She will grasp onto things in no time I am sure, I mean look how far she has come. Its only a matter of time before she learns to suck and breathe together.

Hey there
As hard as it is, this is going to happen. You know the drill. 5 steps forward, 3 steps back.
BUT...........
One day she will turn the corner and will be so ready for all suck feeds. Both my premmie boys were the same as Niamh. Both to tired to suck and it was so sad and frustrating but then one day, it just happened and both times we were home, 2 days later.
You will get there. It's not long now... Keep going!

This is the firtst time i've left a comment. I just discovered your story a few days ago on EB and have bookmarked your blog to keep up. She is doing so well. I am in awe. My dd was 6 weeks prem and just a tad smaller than what Niamh is now! It's hard to believe just how small she was.
So, big hugs coming your way- I fully understand the frustration when they don't go forward in leaps and bounds every day. After a nice big rest, I'm sure she'll be fine for a great feed this morning.
My dd is nearly 5 now, and her time in SCN seems so long ago now. :o).
Oh shes such a trooper. Home strech now, and she'll be home in no time. Things will be easier at home. No more commute and she will be the centre of attention.
Shes such a fighter, I know she will pick it all up and be BF like a trooper in no time.
