Monday 25th February

Niamh has been a bit unstable and unfortunately the fact that her duct has reopened is causing a setback for her. She has been reduced down to 2mls/hour of milk and this morning had a chest X-ray and a cardio echogram. She may be given more indocid to close the duct, but I don't know yet. It is now highly unlikely she will be off ventilation this week as she is too unstable. This is really frustrating as she was doing so well, but these steps backwards are to be expected.

Postie has just been again, so more thankyous for Niamhs gorgeous pressies!

Spoke to Anthony this afternoon as he went to see her. They have started another course of Indocid and have also reintubated her. This time the ventilation tube will go up her nose and not down her throat. She had been sedated so hopefully it will cause her minimum discomfort.

Hi Bon,
Sorry to hear about Niamh's set back, keeping everything crossed she won't need the op and that this is the only setback she'll have :-(

I had to lol at your "against" pink thing, I used to HATE pink now I too am converted, mind you I do prefer it mixed with other colours, not just on its own ;-)

Awwwwww at the cute pics and how cute that she has opened one eye. Not long now and they will be both open and giving you indignant stares!

Big cuddles to Niamh, and sending lots of health and growing vibes her way.

cheers,
Leoni

Sending you strong and heathy thoughts.

Hey Siobhan,

Sorry to hear about Niamh's set back. Although, not unexpected.

Will keep my finger's crossed that the meds will work and she doesn't neep the op.

I love seeing all the pics of her and reading your blog everyday. You are doing an amazing job keeping it up to date for us.

Thinking of you and your family,
Sara.

Chin up Bon, as far as setbacks go, it could have been worse. Big Hugs and love to you all and hopefully the duct will close and she won't need the op. She is still doing REALLY well considering how prem she was :) Just remember that if it all gets a bit much xoxox
